Metro League was formed in 1958 and the 2008-2009 season marks its 51st year in operation. Inaugural member teams included Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook, Detroit Benedictine, Detroit Catholic Central, Detroit St. Ambrose, Detroit St. Gregory, Harper Woods Notre Dame, Windsor North Essex, and Windsor Riverside. Today the Metro League includes 11 teams from Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The Metro League is divided into three divisions, and each member team plays a 13 game league schedule. Each team plays 2 games against each division opponent, one at home and one on the road, and then plays 1 game against the remaining non-divisional league opponents The Metro League features teams from all three MHSAA state tournament division.
